Wrong information about Sikhs: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has strongly objected to NCERT giving wrong information about Sikhs in the syllabus books. Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that NCERT is misrepresenting historical details related to Sikhs.

He said that recently it has recorded misleading information about Sri Anandpur Sahib’s resolution in the twelfth standard book ‘Politics in Independent India’, which has hurt the sentiments of the nation. He said that while explaining the resolution of Sri Anandpur Sahib, it is not at all justified to portray Sikhs as separatists, so NCERT should remove it immediately.

Advocate Dhami said that along with this, communal action has been taken while removing some information from the twelfth book and adding some new ones. It is sad that changes are being made according to what suits the current central government. Curricula especially about minorities are being eliminated and arbitrary syllabus is being created.

He said that accordingly, the resolution of Sri Anandpur Sahib has been wrongly interpreted in the book ‘Politics in Independent India’. Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that Mr. Anandpur Sahib’s resolution is a historical document which does not contain anything wrong. It has talked about the rights of the states and it is a matter of sadness that the situation is similar even today. The rights and interests of the states are being ignored.

The Shiromani Committee President said that it seems that the speakers of the language of Hindu Rashtra are being deliberately favored, while on the other hand, instead of solving the issues of minorities, anti-Britishness is being created by creating misconceptions about them. Advocate Dhami said that the spirit of communalism visible in the syllabus is not in accordance with the concerns of the country.
