Severe cold and dense fog in the whole of North India, Red Alert issued by the Meteorological Department

Dense fog and fog are also falling due to bitter cold in the whole of North India including Punjab. A red alert of extreme cold has been issued in many states including Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. Cold weather conditions continued in many districts of Punjab on Friday with dense fog.

According to the Meteorological Department, the coldest day of the season was Friday and the temperature reached 1.4 degrees Celsius. Amritsar was the coldest district of the state. The temperature was recorded at 1.4 degrees Celsius, which was 3 degrees below normal. Visibility was also zero.

The minimum temperature of 8 cities of the state remained below 5 degrees. In Haryana's Hisar, the temperature (0.4 degrees) reached close to zero. The Meteorological Department has also issued a red alert for dense fog in Lohri on Saturday. The weather will remain like this till January 16.

Amritsar, Ludhiana, Faridkot and Bathinda experienced zero visibility for the first time in this winter season. In other districts, visibility remained less than 50 meters.
