SDO of PSPCL caught by Vigilance taking bribe

As part of the campaign against corruption in the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has today P.S.P.C.L. Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Harbans Singh and Revenue Accountant (RA) Khushwant Singh posted in office Bhawanigarh, Sangrur district were caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000.

Giving more information in this regard, the official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau here today said that these employees of the electricity department have been arrested on the complaint of Happy Sharma, the owner of a rice sheller at Bhawanigarh.

He further said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau Range Patiala and alleged that the said employee was demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 in lieu of settling the fine of Rs 3.5 lakh due to the difference in the power load of his rice sheller.

After preliminary investigation of this complaint, the team of Vigilance Bureau from Patiala range laid a trap and arrested the said two accused red-handed by taking a bribe of Rs. 30000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses. In this regard, further action is being taken by registering a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act in the police station Patiala range of the Vigilance Bureau.
