An ASI risked his life to uphold the glory of the tricolor in Amritsar. In fact, a fire broke out in Raghav Steel at New Focal Point on Mehta Road on Monday afternoon. The information about the fire was received by SI Jasbir Singh, in-charge of the police post.

As soon as the information was received, SI Jasbir Singh informed the fire brigade and himself along with the police party reached the spot. By then the fire in the steel factory had taken a terrible shape. Seeing this, the SI took the people around to a safe place from there. Meanwhile, the attention of ASI Kashmir Singh, who was part of the team, went to the upper floor of the factory, where he saw that the national flag, about 80-90 feet high, was waving amidst the flames.

Seeing this, ASI Kashmir Singh climbed up through the iron angle (pillar) without risking his life and lowered the national flag respectfully. Meanwhile, the fire at the steel factory was also brought under control. People saluted this courageous act of ASI.
