Punjab News Punjab-Haryana High Court (High Court) has given a major relief to the 18 DSPs appointed in the year 2015 and ordered the Punjab government to release their full salary during the probation period. While filing the petition, Damanbir Singh and others told the High Court through advocate Jagtar Singh Sandhu that the petitioner was appointed as DSP in Punjab Police.

The decision was challenged

This decision was challenged by some people in the High Court. The High Court rejected the Punjab government’s decision as wrong. The court said that the employees are entitled to full salary and service benefits from the date of appointment like other employees. This decision of the High Court was challenged by the Punjab government in the Supreme Court. Now the petitioners pointed out that they were paid only basic salary for three years during their probation. The High Court has set aside the decision on the basis of which his salary was deducted.

An appeal is pending in the Supreme Court

Government’s appeal against this Supreme Court (Supreme Court) is pending but the decision of the High Court has not been stopped. After hearing the arguments of the petitioners, the High Court has now directed all these DSPs to pay the reduced salary and issue service benefits from the date of appointment.

This is the whole matter

However, the court clarified that this order will be subject to the decision of the Punjab government’s appeal pending in the Supreme Court. The Punjab government had decided to keep the newly appointed employees on probation for three years. During this time only the basic salary was provided to them. In this salary, the employees were deprived of DA, special pay, increment and other benefits. After three years, service is counted from the date of permanent appointment and this period of three years is not added in the calculation of pay.
