More than two dozen teams of Special Task Force and police are conducting raids across the country in connection with the attack on Umesh Pal, the witness of the murder of MLA Raju Pal and his security personnel. The involvement of more than a dozen people in this incident is coming to the fore. After the recovery of the Creta car from the house of mafia Atiq Ahmed, the police has tightened the noose on the Atiq family and its henchmen. Former MLA Khalid Azim alias Ashraf, lodged in Bareilly’s Central Jail, has also been questioned by the STF. His picture has been released to catch Atiq Ahmed’s special henchman Mohammad Ghulam. Umesh’s injured gunner was brought from Prayagraj to Lucknow PGI by making a green corridor.

According to the information received from the highly placed sources of the police, the Creta car recovered from Atiq Ahmed’s house is an important link to expose the whole incident. In the preliminary investigation, it has come to light that this car was used in the murder case. Ghulam had called hired shooters at the behest of Atiq. Umesh Pal and his gunner were bombed and shot by about a dozen criminals in a planned manner. Till now it was believed that the attackers were in number of four to six. They reached the spot by car-bike and started the attack as soon as they saw the target. The bike-borne shooter had arrived earlier so that Umesh etc. did not get a chance to escape.
Attackers identified, Prayagraj border sealed
The people of Umesh’s house have also identified some of the attackers. The footage of the incident was shown by the police, on the basis of which the relatives identified Atiq Ahmed’s son as one of the shooters. Guddu Muslim had blown the bomb by taking it out of the bag. The shooter seen running away from the bike in the CCTV footage is Armaan, a resident of Bihar. BJP leader’s brother Ghulam has been identified as the one who fired. The security of Umesh Pal’s family has been increased. Some people may also be arrested. Many criminals are reported to be hiding in Prayagraj. The boundaries of the district have been sealed.
