Raid on illegal drug rehab centers, 27 youths from Punjab-Haryana freed

As soon as the case of torture on a youth came to light in a de-addiction center (Khatoli) located in Ambala cantonment of Haryana, two illegal de-addiction centers have been exposed one after another. The police and the health department came into action after the family of the youth filed a complaint at the Panjokhara police station. When a team of police and health department raided on Friday night, not only the de-addiction center in Khatauli where the youths were kept was found to be illegal but another de-addiction center was busted.

The second illegal de-addiction center was found in Garnala village. The team was also stunned to see the youth in both the de-addiction centers. The police have rescued 27 youths from these two de-addiction centers. Many such cases of torture have come to light in Ambala's de-addiction centers.

A month after the death of the youth of Ambala, three youths of Patiala died due to drowning in the canal. All three had escaped from the drug de-addiction center in Ambala. SMO of Health Department Dr. Rajindra Roy said that the de-addiction center running in village Khatauli had a provisional license but it was not allowed to keep patients and the de-addiction center running in village Garnala was completely illegal. was

The police have informed the family members of the youth and handed them over. Police interrogation revealed that most of the youths in the illegal drug addiction centers of villages Garnala and Khatauli were from Ludhiana and other cities of Punjab.
