Punjabi University professor suspended

Professor Pushpinder Singh Gill of Patiala-based Punjabi University has been suspended. He has been accused of acquiring foreign citizenship while working in the university. Professor Gill holds Canadian citizenship. The Punjab government had ordered an inquiry into the matter.

They are also alleged to have tried to get a faculty member to extend service to a post which was not actually the post by giving false information to the VC. Apart from this, they have also been accused of spreading propaganda based on false facts to tarnish the image of the university.

Daljit Ami, director of the public relations department of the university, said that an investigation was underway in three cases against Professor Gill. Based on preliminary investigation, they have been suspended. Meanwhile, they have to report at Talwandi Sabo Guru Kashi Centre. Professor Gill has been given 15 days to present his side.
