Punjab Police ‘OPS Vigil’: During the ongoing campaign against drugs and anti-social elements on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Police launched a two-day state-level operation ‘OPS’ to crack down on drug peddling and anti-social elements. Vigil’ played.

It may be mentioned that officers of the ADGP/IGP rank from the Punjab Police Headquarters have been deputed in each police district to personally monitor the operation, which will conclude at 7 pm on Wednesday. Talking to reporters on the occasion, DGP Gaurav Yadav said that all sensitive public places including railway stations, bus stands and markets are being thoroughly checked by police teams under the supervision of ADGP/IGP rank officers. He said that the purpose of conducting this state-level operation is to increase the confidence among the people as well as to increase the presence of the police to instill fear in the anti-social elements.
He said that the police forces are searching for the suspected persons and are going for full checking of the sensitive areas. He said that on Wednesday morning, police teams will also conduct special checks of hotels and residences.

The DGP reiterated that the Punjab Police under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is committed to maintain law and order in the state at any cost. He said that the Punjab Police will not allow the peace and harmony of the border state to be disturbed.

Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla, who joined the operation along with SSP Sandeep Garg at SAS Nagar, said that while ensuring minimum inconvenience to the general public as part of this operation, inter-state and Inter-district hi-tech checkpoints have been installed and extensive checking of vehicles coming and going in the state is being done. He further said that we have strictly instructed all the police personnel to treat every person with courtesy while searching or checking their vehicles during this operation.

He said that police teams will visit various religious places including gurdwaras, temples, churches and mosques to review the security arrangements and also ensure that CCTVs are installed at all places. Cameras have been installed and are working well.

It may be mentioned that with the aim of instilling confidence in the people, flag marches are being conducted by police teams in sensitive areas.
