Punjab Police: During the decisive war against drugs on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police seized 35 packets of heroin, weighing 36.9 kg, from the area of ​​village Lalo Wali of Fazilka and arrested four drug smugglers. is This information was given by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.

The arrested persons have been identified as Manpreet Singh, Jaspal Singh alias Gopi, Sukhdev Singh and Dayalwinder Singh all residents of District Tarn Taran. The police also recovered two sedan cars, including a white Hyundai Elantra (PB-02-DP-0717) and a silver Honda Civic (PB-63-D-2370), which were used by drug dealers from Rajasthan. The substance was smuggled.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that based on reliable information about the arrival of large quantities of heroin from Rajasthan to Punjab, police teams of Fazilka district conducted an operation near Nehri Bridge in the area of ​​village Lalo Wali on the Fazilka-Firozepur road, where these four Individuals were sitting in their car waiting for someone. On seeing the police party, the accused tried to run away from the spot but the police team caught them.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that during the checking, the police teams recovered 23 packets of 24.295 kg of heroin, which were kept hidden in the cardboard sheets of the windows of the Elantra car. He said that along with this, 12 more packets of 12.620 kg of heroin have also been recovered from the location mentioned by the arrested drug smugglers.

Giving more information in this regard, D.I.G. Ferozepur Range Ranjit Singh Dhillon said that according to the preliminary investigation, the accused were bringing a consignment of heroin dropped across the border from Rajasthan by drone.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Avneet Kaur Sidhu said that further investigations are on to identify other people involved in the gang and the person belonging to Punjab, from whom the consignment was ordered. He said that there is a possibility of more arrests in the coming days.

In this regard, NDPS at police station Sadar Fazilka. FIR No. 58 dated 12.04.2023 has been registered under Sections 21(c), 23, 29 of the Act.
