Punjab ministry announces gift to workers, compensation to farm workers

CM Mann on Cabinet Meeting: Giving a gift to the working class on Labor Day (May 1), the Punjab Ministry under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced to give 10 percent compensation to farm workers on the total compensation given for crops damaged by natural calamities. This decision was taken during the Cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister at Circuit House on Friday.

Talking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister elaborated that the objective of this major initiative is to help farm workers who are deprived of such compensation while facing natural calamities. He said that along with farmers, farm workers will also be compensated for the loss of work due to natural calamities. Bhagwant Mann said that this gift of the state government on the occasion of Labor Day on May 1 is for the entire working class who shed their blood and sweat in the fields to grow crops.

The Chief Minister announced that the state government will start registration of workers on a large scale so that they can get maximum benefit of central and state schemes. He said that due to lack of proper registration, most of the schemes are not benefited but now it will be ensured that the benefits of each scheme will be delivered to the working class. Bhagwant Mann lamented that the previous governments did not act with seriousness towards implementing this noble work diligently.

A ministerial meeting was held outside the Punjab Civil Secretariat to initiate the ‘Sarkar Apahe Dwar’ program

The Chief Minister further said that the state government has launched its flagship program ‘Sarkar Aaphai Dwar’ by holding a cabinet meeting at the local circuit house today and the aim of this step is to ensure the welfare of the people and overall development of the state. He said that now the Council of Ministers will not be confined to the rooms of the Secretariat only, but meetings will be held in villages, towns and cities across the state so that the people can be at ease. Bhagwant Mann said that while this will give a boost to the development of the state, on the other hand, people will get convenience by doing their daily administrative work.

The Chief Minister further said that he has already directed the officials especially the Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police to increase their visits to their respective areas. He said that the purpose of this is that people do not have to run here and there to do their daily administrative work. Bhagwant Mann said that the government will provide facilities to the people at their doorstep through such schemes.

Approval of recruitment to 87 different cadre posts of Local Audit Wing

The Cabinet also approved filling up of 87 direct recruitment posts in various cadres of the Local Audit Wing. A spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that this will pave the way for the recruitment of 60 junior accountants, one section officer, one junior scale stenographer, three steno typists and 22 clerks. This will facilitate pre-audit/post-audit work of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), Urban Local Governments (ULBs), Children’s Funds and Universities. With this, the state government will be able to get grants from the Finance Commission of the Government of India in a smooth and easy manner.

Green flag for re-formation of Punjab State Sports Service Rules, 2023

The Cabinet approved the revision of Punjab State Sports (Group-A, Group-B and Group C) Service Rules, 2023 to promote sports culture in the state. Fresh recruitment in various cadres (Group A, Group B and Group C) in the Sports Department will be as per these new notified rules. Similarly, the officers/employees working in different cadres in the sports department will get promotion opportunities during their service.

Ramdas of Amritsar district approved to build a new block

The Punjab Cabinet has cleared 75 panchayats of Ajnala block of Amritsar district to form a new block Ramdas. Development activities in these 75 villages will be boosted by creating Ramdas Block. Similarly, the Cabinet also approved the creation of the post of Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) here to run the functioning of this newly created block in an effective manner.

In another pro-people decision, the Cabinet has approved the revision of the pay scale of teachers in the Punjab Agricultural University from January 1, 2016. The salary and pension of these teachers will be paid from April, 2023. This will greatly benefit the teachers of Punjab Agricultural University by fulfilling their long-standing demand.

Approval of ‘The Punjab Advocate General (Group-A) Service Rules-2023’

The Cabinet has approved the formulation of ‘The Punjab Advocate General (Group-A) Service Rules-2023’. With the formulation of these service rules, the services of Group-A officers working in the office of the Advocate General will be regularized. With this decision, the office work in this prestigious office will become more effective and smooth in the larger public interest.

Approval of the annual administrative report of the Defense Forces Welfare Department

The Cabinet has approved the Annual Administrative Report of the Defense Forces Welfare Department, Punjab for the year 2021-22.

Permission to send cases of anticipatory release of prisoners

The Cabinet has given approval to send cases for early release of six prisoners serving life imprisonment in the jails of the state. After the approval of the Cabinet under Article 163 of the Constitution of India, the cases of special amnesty/early release shall be referred to the Governor of Punjab for consideration/approval under Article 161 of the Constitution of India.

Similarly, as the second phase of the ‘Azadi Ka Mahautsav’, which is being celebrated to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence, the Cabinet has approved the early release of the prisoners serving life imprisonment in the jails of the state in the cases of 14 prisoners falling under category-6. Permission has been given to send. After the approval of the Cabinet under Article 163 of the Constitution of India, the cases of special amnesty/early release shall be referred to the Governor of Punjab for consideration/approval under Article 161 of the Constitution of India.
