The Aam Aadmi Party has reacted to the letter written by Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit to the Punjab government. Senior AAP leader and Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Governor should not talk about Punjab’s debt as we have inherited a debt of Rs 3 lakh crore from the previous Akali, BJP and Congress governments.

The previous governments imposed 3 lakh crore rupees on Punjab

Harpal Cheema said that we have to pay thousands of crores of rupees as interest on the debt of nearly 3 lakh crore rupees imposed on Punjab by the Akali, BJP and Congress governments. Despite paying loan installments and interest, Aam Aadsi government is doing very well for the welfare of the people of Punjab.

He said that the letter has been written to the Governor because he writes letters to the Punjab government repeatedly. Responding to the governor’s statement that the matter is in the Supreme Court, Cheema said that the Punjab government has written several letters to the central government for the release of RDF funds. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself has met the Union Minister and made this demand. But due to no response from the central government, the Punjab government was forced to approach the Supreme Court.

On receipt of the Governor’s RDF, the Government will withdraw the application

Harpal Cheema reminded the Governor that we had to go to the Supreme Court to convene the budget session. He said that if the governor talks to the central government and gets the RDF funds, then the Punjab government will withdraw its application from the Supreme Court.

He appealed to the governor and said that due to non-receipt of RDF money for the past many years, there is a lot of hindrance in the development work of rural areas of Punjab. If the Governor is really concerned about Punjab then he should do his duty as the Governor of Punjab and talk to the Central Government and help the Punjab Government to get the RDF balance of Rs 5000 crores.
