The Punjab government has written a letter to the Bhakra Beas Management Board accusing Haryana and Rajasthan of not taking excess water from the canals. Along with this, he has also kept his side.

In the meeting of BBMB with the governments of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan on July 12, the state government had appealed to Haryana and Rajasthan to take water from the canals, but both the states did not allow it and did not give any response. The Punjab government wrote a letter to BBMB and informed about the situation.

The Punjab government said that if Haryana and Rajasthan do not take excess water into their canal systems to help ease the flood situation, it has no option but to allow excess water from the Sutlej and Beas to be released to Pakistan through the Hussainiwala Barrage. will survive

Sutlej and Beas flow through Himachal to Punjab and meet in Kapurthala district. After this, the Sutlej enters Pakistan at Ferozepur through the Hussainiwala barrage, which is uncontrolled by the Punjab government. After heavy rains in the states, the rivers of Punjab are struggling with excess water level which has led to floods.

The Water Resources Secretary wrote to BBMB that it is surprising that both Haryana and Rajasthan have not sought water from dams for their canal systems. In these circumstances, Punjab is not able to withdraw water from the dams as there is already a large amount of water in the rivers flowing from the catchment areas other than the dams.

It was written in the letter that both Rajasthan and Haryana have been alleging that Punjab is releasing water to Pakistan. When there is a flood in the entire state, if Haryana and Rajasthan do not demand water through their canals, then Punjab has no choice but to open the flood gates and send the water to Pakistan.
