Punjab government suspended 8 including 7 officials of PSPCL

Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO suspended 8 including 7 officers of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) in three separate cases involving corruption. They include four SDOs, one SED, one JE, one divisional accountant and one lineman. An FIR has also been registered against the accused in all the three cases.

Power Minister said that Mubarakpur SDO Gurjinder Singh has been suspended. He was accused of harassing the applicant regarding the issue of industrial connection. The enforcement wing of PSPCL investigated the matter and found the allegation correct. In the second case, SDO Harjit Singh, Darshan Singh, SDO Chinderpal Singh, JE Daljit Singh and Lineman Ajitpal Singh of Sub-Division Bassian have been suspended for embezzlement.

They are accused of misappropriating the materials removed from the stores of PSPCL. This matter was investigated by the audit wing of PSPCL. In the third case, Sub-division Amloh Additional SDE Sumayan Singh and Divisional Accountant Kiran Kumar were suspended. They are accused of defrauding the funds of PSPCL.

Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that no official involved in corruption will be spared and strict action will be taken against such officials. The involvement of senior officials in all the three cases is also being investigated. No person found involved in these activities will be spared.

If there is any case of misbehavior with users and involvement in corruption at any level by any employee of the department, it will not be tolerated. Along with this, the Power Minister also appealed to the people of Punjab to support the government to root out bribery from the state and if any official of the power department demands a bribe, then immediately inform his office.
