Punjab Government Stops Mobile Internet And SMS Services Till Tuesday

Due to apprehension of violence and disturbance, mobile internet and SMS services will remain suspended in Punjab till Tuesday afternoon. The state government had stopped these services on Saturday till Sunday afternoon. The state Home Affairs and Justice Department has extended the ban till Tuesday afternoon.

The Punjab Police is on the lookout for the alleged Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh for the third consecutive day. In the order issued by the State Home Affairs and Justice Department Said “All mobile internet services, all SMS services (except banking and mobile recharge) and all dongle services provided over mobile networks except voice calls in the jurisdiction of Punjab shall be prohibited for any incitement to violence and disturbance of peace.” will remain closed till 12 noon on March 21 in the interest of public safety to prevent

Broadband services have not been banned so that banking facilities, hospital services and other essential services are not interrupted. This order has been issued by the Additional Secretary, Home Affairs Department. The Punjab government on Sunday arrested Amritpal Singh’s alleged advisor and financier Daljit Singh Kalsi alias Sarabjit Singh Kalsi after the arrest of mobile phones within the jurisdiction of Punjab.
