Punjab government is taking concrete steps for Anganwadi centers

Punjab Government: The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is taking concrete steps to complete the basic facilities of the Anganwadi Centers in the state so that the children can have an all-round development.

Mentioning about various schemes/programmes of Anganwadi Centers, Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development Department of Punjab Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the state government is constantly trying to improve the infrastructure of Anganwadi centers. He said that children up to 6 years, pregnant and lactating women, supplementary nutrition, vaccination, health education, health and nutrition education and referral services are provided through Anganwadi centers. Along with this, non-formal pre-school education is also provided to children aged 3-6 years.

The minister said that the department is working together with the Rural Development Department to change the face of one thousand buildings of Anganwadi Centers and with the Water Supply and Sanitation Department for the construction of toilets in Anganwadi Centers.

He asked the District Program Officers and Child Development Project Officers to make special efforts to get help from competent individuals and organizations to procure buildings for Anganwadi Centers, bala paintings, furniture for children to sit on, toys for children to play, swings and necessary equipment for pre-school education. Also asked for, so that willing citizens can also contribute by supporting the government.

The Cabinet Minister addressed the common citizens, public welfare organizations, Panchayats and N. R. I. Appealed to the Punjabis to contribute to provide necessary items and facilities in the Anganwadi Centers running in the state so that the children can have an all-round development.

Social Security, Women and Child Development Department Director Ms. Madhvi Kataria said that the best performing Anganwadi Centers will be selected by the departmental officials till 07 August 2023 at the district level and three (3) Anganwadi Centers of the best performing district will be selected. Anganwadi workers, helpers, supervisors and CDPOs. will be honored on August 15. He ordered all the district program officers to send the report by August 10. Among them, the entire staff of 10 Anganwadi centers at the state level will be honored on August 15 through Facebook Live.
