President House Budget: The government has taken care of every sector in the Union Budget for 2023-24, but has also cut down on money spent on certain places, one of them being the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Rs 36.22 crore has been allocated for the President’s household expenditure, which includes salaries of staff, which is Rs 10 crore less than the current fiscal. Let us tell you, Nirmala Sitharaman presented the general budget in the Parliament of the country on 1 February. Yesterday she became the first woman in the country to have presented the budget as Finance Minister 5 times. This budget is the last full budget of the second term of the Modi government.
Finance Minister gave information in Parliament
According to the budget document presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday, Rs 90.14 crore has been allocated for the President’s office and other expenses, which is Rs 5.34 crore more than the Rs 84.8 crore announced in the previous budget. The document reveals that out of the total allocation, Rs 60 lakh has been earmarked for the salary and allowances of the President. While Rs 53.32 crore is for the President’s Secretariat and Rs 36.22 crore is for the expenditure on the President’s household establishment, including the salaries of the staff, which comprise the President’s discretionary grant.
In the previous budget, Rs 41.68 crore was allocated for the domestic establishment, which was increased to Rs 46.27 crore as per the revised estimates for FY23. The budget document tabled on Wednesday shows that the allocation under the head for the next financial year has been slashed by Rs 10.05 crore, nearly 27 per cent, to Rs 36.22 crore for 2022-23. According to the document, the allocation for the President’s Secretariat has been increased by Rs 15.39 crore from Rs 37.93 crore in the previous budget to Rs 53.32 crore.
