By-election Lok Sabha Constituency Jalandhar: The district administration Jalandhar has made preparations for the by-election of Lok Sabha Constituency 04 Jalandhar to be held on May 10 in a smooth and orderly manner, according to Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Jaspreet Singh, Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh. Chahal held a meeting with civil and police administration officials and took stock of the ongoing election preparations in the district.

During the review meeting with the concerned officials at the District Administrative Complex, Deputy Commissioner and Police Commissioner said that proper arrangements are being made to ensure a free, fair and peaceful election process in the district. He said that in view of the by-election, the administration has formed nodal teams at the district level and the assembly level so that this grand exercise can be carried out in a smooth manner.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Major Amit Mahajan, Varinderpal Singh Bajwa and Jasbir Singh, SP. (Headquarters) in the presence of Manjit Kaur, a villager in Jalandhar. And asked their police counterparts to personally visit critical polling stations to complete their mapping process so that a detailed security plan can be drawn up for deploying the required force there.

The Deputy Commissioner said that district level and assembly level liquor monitoring teams have been formed. He instructed the officials of the Excise Department to ensure submission of daily liquor seizure report in the prescribed format as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India. He clearly said that any kind of laxity in this election duty will not be tolerated.

He said that the entire process from training the polling staff to finalizing the polling day arrangements should be done in a smooth manner. He asked the AROs and their police counterparts to hold regular meetings for better coordination so that the by-elections can be conducted smoothly.

The bank officials were made aware of the instructions of the Election Commission of India Meanwhile, while giving instructions to the officials of the banks, the Deputy Commissioner said that according to the instructions of the Election Commission, the bank will share the information regarding the deposit and withdrawal of any suspicious large amount of money with the Election Office.

He said that the account in which no transaction has taken place during the last two months but now more than 1 lakh rupees is being deposited or withdrawn from that account should be reported immediately. If cash of more than 1 lakh rupees is being deposited or withdrawn in the bank account of the candidate or his spouse or family members, then the returning officer should also be informed about this. Similarly, if an amount of more than 1 lakh rupees is transacted in the account of a political party, it should be ensured to be informed about it. He said that if a large amount or more than 10 lakh rupees is being withdrawn, then this information will also be immediately given to the office, district election officer and nodal officer of income tax department.

Appeal to the political parties to promote the candidates as per the instructions of the Election Commission: Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Virinderpal Singh Bajwa held a special meeting with representatives of various political parties and printers-publishers. During the meeting at the District Administrative Complex here, the Additional Deputy Commissioner urged the representatives of the political parties to ensure the promotion of their candidates as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India.

He said that the election expenses of the candidates have been fixed at 95 lakh rupees and it is necessary to keep an account of the election expenses incurred by every candidate from the day of filing his nomination paper to the day of election results. He said that the payment of expenses incurred by the candidate in excess of 10 thousand rupees can be made only through cheque, demand draft and NEFT from the bank account opened for election expenses.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that it is necessary to obtain advance certification from the district level media certification and monitoring cell for advertising done by political parties and candidates through print, electronic and social media for election campaigning. He said that advertisement on any government building or property is strictly prohibited during the elections and it is necessary to get a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the concerned owner for putting up any kind of posters, banners etc. on private property as well.

Talking to the representatives of the association of printers and publishers, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that while printing the campaign material of any candidate, the number of print lines and the number of materials must be mentioned by the printer. He said that the necessary information in this regard is from the concerned RO. will also be given in the office of On this occasion, election tehsildar Sukhdev Singh, election law officer Rakesh Kumar, representatives of various political parties and printer publishers were present.
