After inaugurating the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi and holding several bilateral meetings with prominent leaders, PM Modi arrived in Qatar's capital Doha on Wednesday night. On Thursday, PM Modi was formally received and held a bilateral meeting with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval also attended Prime Minister Modi's meeting with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar.
After the meeting, PM Modi wrote on X, 'Wonderful meeting with PM @MBA_AlThani_. Our discussion revolved around ways to advance India-Qatar friendship. During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, finance and technology, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
This special visit of the Prime Minister comes after India's diplomatic victory with Qatar. Doha on Monday freed eight Indian Navy veterans sentenced to death for espionage in Qatar.
Prime Minister Modi also attended a dinner hosted by the Prime Minister of Qatar in his honour. “Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the Republic of India, who is visiting the country,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.
India's Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir said that 'Advancing the India-Qatar partnership! Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Qatar's Excellency MBA in Doha. Had a meaningful meeting with Althani, Prime Minister and Finance Minister. Discussions took place on enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, energy, finance.
