Patwari arrested by vigilance for taking bribe

Punjab Vigilance Bureau during its anti-corruption campaign in Mall Halka Nawanshahr, District SBS. Patwari Prem Kumar posted at Nagar has been arrested on the charge of receiving a bribe of Rs.24,000.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that this case has been registered against the revenue employee after the investigation of the online complaint filed on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line.
Giving further information, he said that the complainant Amarjit Singh, a resident of Karnana, Tehsil Banga, has alleged that the said patwari has taken Rs 24,000 as bribe in installments in exchange for registering the transfer of land of his father and uncle.

He further said that the complainant had recorded the entire conversation on his mobile phone when the accused patwari was demanding bribe.
The spokesperson further said that the vigilance unit of Jalandhar range investigated the allegations made in the said complaint and after being found guilty of asking and accepting bribe, a corruption case has been registered against the employee of the revenue department at the Vigilance Bureau police station Jalandhar and the matter is being investigated. Further investigation is underway.
