Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the authorities to unblock Wikipedia. The government of Pakistan banned the popular free encyclopedia Wikipedia in Pakistan a few days ago. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issued a press release on 1 February asking Wikipedia to remove some controversial content (defamatory content).

However, Wikipedia did not remove the content, after which the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority banned Wikipedia. Even before this, Pakistan has banned many social platforms like Tik Tok and YouTube. In the year 2016, Pakistan removed the ban from YouTube.
