Opposition Parties against Centre’s Ordinance: Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s campaign to bring together the opposition parties against the Centre’s ordinance is taking shape. On Wednesday, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena has also announced to support Delhi. Earlier, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav have announced their opposition to this ordinance in the Rajya Sabha.

The government elected in a democracy should also have the powers to do public welfare work – Arvind Kejriwal

AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal thanked Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and said that everyone knows that the people of Delhi have fought a long battle for their rights. As soon as the Aam Aadmi Party government came to power in Delhi in 2015, the Modi government took away all our rights by passing a notification.

In February 2015 our government is formed and in May (within three months) the Modi government issues a notification and takes away our powers. After this, the people of Delhi fought for their rights in the Supreme Court for 8 years. After a long battle of 8 years, on the day the Supreme Court’s decision came, within 8 days, the central government took away all our rights by bringing an ordinance.

Arvind Kejriwal said that the elected government in a democracy should have powers, so that it can work in the interest of the people because the elected government in a democracy is accountable to the people. But the Modi government took away all the powers from us. These people are clearly saying that we do not accept the decision of the Supreme Court.

The State Raj Bhavan is the headquarters of the BJP and the Governor is its star campaigner – Bhagwant Hon

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that democracy is in serious danger today. Today it is not the people elected by the public, but a few persons elected by the central government who are running the people and the government. Whereas democracy means that which has been elected by the people. But the governor is elected by the central government. The governor and deputy governor have neither been elected by the people nor have they taken the votes of the people. They have been selected by the central government and sent to harass the governments. In Punjab, the governor refused to use the word ‘my government’ in the budget session. We had to go to the Supreme Court for this and get an order. Raj Bhavans across the country have today become BJP headquarters and governors have become their star campaigners.

Mann said that where these people cannot come by winning, they come through by-elections. If they don’t come even through the by-election, they buy MLAs. He said that there may be ideological differences among the parties but we have to unite to save the country. What will the parties do if the country is not saved? If they come in 2024 they will change the constitution and not hold elections. They will say that for 35-40 years only we will remain, which is very dangerous for the country’s democracy. We all have to save the country together.

We have come together to fight anti-democratic people and save the Constitution- Uddhav Thackeray

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said that the upcoming year is for elections. If the train is missed this time, democracy will disappear from our country forever. We have come together to save democracy. I will not use the term “opposition unity”, because we are not in opposition to anyone. We are all patriots. People who want to remove democracy from the country, we call such people anti-democratic. Today we have come together to save the country’s democracy and constitution and to fight against these anti-democratic people. Recently, the Supreme Court gave two decisions. One was about Shiv Sena and the other about Delhi.

He said that people’s representative should be the most important in democracy. Supreme Court decision on Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi was essential for democracy. But the ordinance brought against this by the central government is against democracy. Aam Aadmi Party has been elected by the people, they are the representatives of the people. So they should get some rights. Thus, there may be days in the future when elections will not be held in states. The elections will be held at the center and that too is likely to be held by 2024. The result of the decision taken by the public will be seen in front of everyone. That is why today we have gathered to wake up the countrymen.
