On the orders of the Punjab-Haryana High Court, the Punjab School Education Department on Monday canceled the appointment letters issued in the month of January for 4161 posts of Master Cadre. Along with this, the revised merit list will be prepared and the appointment letter will be issued soon. Giving information in this regard, the Director of Education Department Dr. He said that the new appointment letters will be uploaded on the website of the department.

After the High Court’s stricture, the Education Department has canceled the appointment letters issued on six dates for 4661 posts. These dates include appointment letters issued on 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 16, 2023. The department started this teacher recruitment process a year ago. The recruitment advertisement was released on 8 January 2022. This was followed by a written examination.

Then there were other formalities ranging from document sorting. The department received the merit list on 16th December 2022. After this appointment letters were issued to the selected candidates. After this, some people took refuge in the Punjab-Haryana High Court. Argued that the rules were not followed. After this, the department issued orders in this regard.

In this case, petitioner Sunita Rani and others told the High Court that there are vacancies in ex-servicemen and sports category. It was decided to fill both these categories without reservation. The petition stated that the reservation policy was not followed while unreserving the vacancies. With this decision, the claim of reserved category applicants ends.

He called this decision of the Punjab government as flawed and appealed to reject it. However, the Punjab government, citing non-availability of eligible applicants, had talked of taking a decision on eligibility for both categories. The High Court had ordered to prepare and fill the merit list of the open category after hearing all the arguments.
