Rail Roko in Punjab: The United Kisan Morcha has decided to implement the chakka jam program of trains on April 18 from 12 to 4 pm at Rajpura railway station in Patiala district against the decision of the central government to reduce the purchase price of wheat. This decision was taken in a joint meeting of farmers’ organizations of Patiala district, which was presided over by senior farmer leader Kulwant Singh Maulviwala.

In the meeting, a steering committee based on the organizations involved was also formed along with the division of responsibilities to make the Rail Roko program a success. The meeting appealed to the general public to refrain from traveling in passenger vehicles on April 18. Let it be said that due to the central government’s imposition of a large reduction in the purchase price of wheat, which has shriveled and discolored due to unseasonal rains and hailstorms, there has been a protest among the farmers. It has been decided to stop trains at 18 places.

The United Kisan Morcha has also demanded an immediate notification to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann regarding the announcement by the Punjab government that the amount of reduction will be paid by the Punjab government.

Farmer leaders Davinder Singh Punia and Harbans Singh Dadhera while issuing a statement to the press said that the Modi government at the center is treating Punjab like a stepmother due to the leading role played by Punjab in the historic Kisan Ghol fought for the victory of three agricultural laws. is He said that in every step taken in the name of the welfare of farmers-labourers, the central government is only concerned with the billions and crores of profit of its corporate friends. Commenting strongly on the decision to reduce the purchase price of wheat, he said that the Modi government is giving the impression that it has given relief to the farmers who have been hit by natural calamities, but in reality this relief is not ‘Aurang JB Jajia’. With which the government wants to stamp billions and crores on the pockets of the country’s farmers and put this amount in the pockets of its corporate friends.

The farmers’ leaders should issue a notification in concrete form of the announcement made by the Chief Minister of Punjab to compensate the reduction. The farmers’ leaders demanded from the Punjab government to provide compensation of Rs 50 thousand per acre for 75% to 100% damage and Rs 25 thousand per acre for less than 75% damage. They have also demanded to give adequate compensation to the farm workers.
