NSUI President in Panjab University, INSO candidate wins General Secretary post

The counting of votes for the student union elections in 10 colleges of the city including Punjab University (PU) in Chandigarh has ended. NSUI candidate Jitinder Singh has won the post of PU President. With this, INSO candidate Deepak Goit has won the post of General Secretary. On the other hand, Ranmeet Jot Kaur of Sath has won the post of vice president.

After voting, DGP Praveen Ranjan and SSP Kanvardeep Kaur came to inspect the counting center. The university staff briefed them about the security arrangements.

The police have blockaded various places in the university. Around 15693 students of the university participated in the voting. There were about 43705 voters in 10 colleges. 110 candidates were in the fray in 10 colleges. While 21 candidates were in the fray for 4 posts in Punjab University.

Jashnpreet Singh of SOI has been declared the winner in DAV College located in Sector-32.
Sanatan Dharma College Union candidate Parvinder Singh has been elected president of SD College located in Sector-32.
CYSF candidate Om Srivastava has been elected president of PGGC located in Sector-46.
Kamalpreet Kaur has become Principal for the post of Principal in Guru Gobind Singh Girls College. While Navneet Kaur has been selected for the post of Secretary Factory and Vrinda for the post of Joint Secretary.
The number of votes of the city is as follows
There are 11 colleges in Chandigarh city. In one of these colleges, the student union was elected unopposed. Voting was held in the rest of the colleges on Wednesday. Among them 8384 in DAV-10 College, 4500 in PGGC-11, 3870 in PGCG-11, 5954 in SGGSC-26, 8492 in GGSD-32, 4800 in MCM DAV-36, 3291 in PGGCC-11, PGGC-32 3291, DAV -45, PGGC-46 has 2184 votes and GCCVA-50 has 900 votes. There are about 43705 polls in the city apart from the Punjab University campus.

Highest number of voters in UIET
University Institute of Engineering Technology (UIET) in Punjab University has the highest number of voters at 2527. It is followed by 1900 voters in the University Institute of Legal Services (UILS), 1100 in the Department of Law, 512 in Dental Science and at least 213 in the Department of Psychology. There are total 15693 voters in Punjab University campus.

The police are keeping an eye on every nook and cranny
The police had also made strict security arrangements for the student union elections. Police has deployed 14 DSPs, 12 SHOs, 18 inspectors, 10 outpost in-charges, 938 other employees along with traffic and other departments in the field. About 1200 police personnel including the crime branch were posted on duty. After the counting of votes, the police had made elaborate security arrangements till the celebrations.
