Railway: The State Consumer Commission has held the Railways responsible for the incident of snatching in the train. The commission directed the railway ministry to pay Rs 50,000 as compensation and Rs 1.08 lakh as compensation for the passenger’s stolen luggage.

This decision has been given on the complaint of Ramveer of Sector-28. While going from Chandigarh to Delhi, his wife’s purse was stolen near Ambala. He filed a case with the District Consumer Commission, but the case was dismissed. He then appealed to the State Consumer Commission. The State Commission allowed his appeal and overturned the decision of the District Commission.

Ramveer booked a ticket online for the Goa Kontakt Kranti train from the Indian Railways website. He had some important work in Delhi and was traveling with his family. On 5 November 2018, when the train departed from Chandigarh railway station, he saw some suspicious people loitering in the reserve coach.
