The “Child’s smileยป is voluntary non-profit organisation which operates in Greece, with the aim of protection of children’s rights and dealing with their daily problems.

THE action it includes among others the hospitality of children at risk, their telephone support, counseling and social inclusion programs, the support of families in poverty, as well as the organization of information campaigns or cultural and sports events.

THE NGO looking to hire two new people to pay them seats of child psychiatrist and his occupational therapistat the Day Center (Zografou, Athena) with the aim of the psychosocial rehabilitation of children and adolescents victims of abuse/neglect/domestic violence or exposure to extreme traumatic conditions as well as the counseling support of their families.

Child psychiatrist

Formal qualifications required

  • A degree from a local university or a recognized university abroad
  • License to practice medical profession
  • License to practice the medical specialty of child psychiatry
  • Certificate of medical association membership
  • Certified good knowledge of English
  • Good computer knowledge

Additional qualifications that will be taken into account:

  • Master’s degree from a national university or a recognized foreign university
  • Certified specialization in individual – group psychotherapy
  • Contagiousness, teamwork, communication
  • Previous work experience, training or expertise in dealing with child victims of abuse or neglect
  • Part-time or full-time employment and full insurance coverage

Occupational therapist

Main duties and main responsibilities

  • Participating in the diagnostic work with evaluative methods (observation, interview, weighted and unweighted tests, etc.) to assess the person’s abilities and difficulties in performing their daily tasks and activities as well as the factors (the person’s skills and environmental elements) that lead to these difficulties
  • It sets goals and plans the intervention in collaboration with the person and his family, using the results of the assessment.
  • Selects, analyzes, grades and adapts therapeutic means, methods and techniques.
  • Designs, manufactures, implements and provides special aids to facilitate the individual’s participation in the projects and activities of his daily life.
  • Assesses and suggests modifications for the environment (social, physical) to facilitate the active participation of the individual in the environment of his choice.
  • He selects and applies theories, approaches and methods related to occupational therapy by evaluating relevant research data, aiming to continuously improve the quality of his work.
  • Develops effective therapeutic communication with beneficiaries and their parents-caregivers.
  • He is a member of the therapeutic/interdisciplinary team.
  • Participation, creation and coordination of psychosocial rehabilitation therapeutic groups
  • Undertakes parent/caregiver counseling on issues related to child rehabilitation and facilitation.
  • Participation in scientific conferences and actions in the community with the aim of informing, raising awareness and prevention in mental health issues related to the abuse-neglect of minors

Formal qualifications required

  • Degree of HEI or TEI of the country or a recognized university abroad
  • Licence to practice profession
  • Previous voluntary or salaried work, at least three years, in related organizations
  • Certified good knowledge of English
  • Certified good computer knowledge

Additional qualifications that will be considered:

  • Master’s degree from a national or recognized university abroad, related to the specialty
  • Supervision on the object for a reasonable period of time
  • Contagiousness, teamwork, communication
  • Previous experience working, training or specializing in dealing with child victims of abuse or neglect and/or in a refugee-immigrant population
