The important project 'Aam Aadmi Clinics' launched by the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann with a view to improving and revamping the primary health care in the state has achieved another milestone as the Outpatient Department ( OPD) figure has crossed one crore on Tuesday. The minister said, “Over 1 crore people in the state have availed free treatment from these Aam Aadmi clinics in the last year and a half.”
Notably, there are a total of 664 Aam Aadmi clinics in the state – 236 in urban areas and 428 in rural areas – which are providing free treatment as well as facilitating 80 types of free medicines and 38 types of free diagnostic tests. . All the clinics are IT enabled and equipped with the facility of registration, medical consultation, examination and medication suggestion through digital mode.
Health Minister chaired a high-level virtual meeting with all civil surgeons, deputy medical superintendents and senior medical officers (SMOs) to review ongoing development projects including free medicines, X-rays, ultrasound, Ferishte scheme and Aam Aadmi clinics. were staying
He said that the Punjab Government has started an important 'Angel Scheme' under which the victims of road accidents are being treated free of charge without considering their nationality, caste or socio-economic status.
He said that whoever takes the road accident victim to the hospital for treatment will be awarded 2000 rupees, while the person who takes the road accident victim to the hospital, without his consent, will not receive any compensation from the police or the hospital administration. Inquiries will not be made.
While reviewing the supply of medicines at government health centers, Dr. Balbir Singh asked civil surgeons and SMOs to ensure that no patient has to go outside to buy medicines.
He said that sufficient stock of free medicines is available in all government health institutions. Funds have also been allocated to civil surgeons and SMOs for procurement of medicines so that in case of shortage of a particular medicine, it can be procured.
He said that the Punjab government has enlisted private diagnostic centers to provide X-ray and ultrasound facilities to patients coming to government health facilities (which do not have X-ray and ultrasound machines), where patients pay a nominal fee. They can take these facilities.
In this meeting, Principal Secretary of Health Department Ajoy Sharma, MD of National Health Mission. Dr. Abhinav Trikha, MD Varinder Kumar Sharma, Punjab Health System Corporation (PHSC), Director, Department of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Adarshpal Kaur and Director of Punjab Health System Corporation (PHSC) Dr. Anil Goyal was also present in the meeting.
