Earning big money from railway stations

According to a senior railway official, these earnings have been made under Non Fair Revenue (NFR) through commercial use of railway stations. Under this, branding of railway stations, co-branding, advertisement, parking, platform ticket, rest house, retiring room, food stall, food plaza, lounge, clock room, waiting hall, wi-fi etc. Earning is done. Under this, apart from passenger trains, railways also earn big money every year from railway stations.

60 thousand annual income from passenger trains

Apart from the fare coming from passenger trains, Railways earns about 60 thousand crore rupees every year. There are 8000 small and big railway stations across the country. In such a situation, the department is getting about two lakh crore rupees every year from 6000 medium and big railway stations. In response to the budget, the Railway Board said that an income of Rs 1,91,278.30 crore has been generated in 2021-22. Whereas in 2022-23 (up to December) Rs 1,74,421.34 crore was earned. At the same time, revenue of Rs 2 lakh crore is expected to be received in the current financial year. The special thing is that it does not include ticket booking money from the railway ticket counters of the stations.
