NCB team arrested drug smuggler including opium

Narcotics Control Bureau Chandigarh Zone has made an arrest in the case of inter-state opium racket being run in Punjab and Jharkhand. According to sources, the NCB team stopped the car at the Shambhu border on the Punjab Haryana border.

On searching the car, 38 kg of opium was recovered, after which NCB arrested the car owner who lives in Ludhiana. The main leader of this racket is a 47-year-old accused from Ludhiana. After the arrest, the team has also searched the house of the accused in Ludhiana.

NCB officials have seized several documents and other items from the house. Meanwhile, when contacted, NCB Zonal Director IRS Amanjit Singh confirmed the arrest but refused to give more information.

Further investigation in the matter is going on and more arrests are likely to be made in the coming days. NCB officials will soon hold a press conference in this matter.
