Navjot Singh Sidhu TweetCongress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu was released from jail yesterday after spending 10 months in jail. A day after his release, he posted a video message on Twitter thanking all his supporters.

He captioned the video, “Thank you..Salute to those who waited from 10 am to 6 pm.” In the video, as soon as the former president of Punjab Congress came out of Patiala Jail, the supporters showered flowers on Sidhu, which can also be seen in this video.

Let us tell you that Sidhu was sent to jail last year in a case of 1988, in which a person died after being beaten up during a road rage incident. Navjot Singh Sidhu and co-accused Rupinder Singh Sandhu were acquitted by the lower court, before the High Court found them guilty and sentenced them to three years in prison. Both challenged this order in the Supreme Court.

In 2018, the Supreme Court convicted him of causing hurt, but acquitted him of manslaughter. After a review petition by the family of the victim Gurnam Singh, the Congress leader was sentenced to one year imprisonment. After being released from jail, Sidhu attacked the central government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party and said, ‘Democracy is in chains.

Sidhu said, “Punjab is the shield of this country. When dictatorship came in this country, revolution also came under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.” He alleged that the Center wants to impose President’s rule in the state, where the Aam Aadmi Party is ruling. Sidhu said, “I want to ask my younger brother (Chief Minister) Bhagwant Mann. Why did you fool the people of Punjab? You made big promises, told jokes. But today you are Chief Minister only on paper.”
