Bangalore/Amaravati. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and actor Nandamuri Taraka Ratna passed away on Saturday. He was undergoing treatment at Narayan Hrudayalaya here. Family sources gave this information. Sources said that Taraka Ratna (39) was admitted to the hospital after suffering a heart attack during a political rally in Chittoor in neighboring Andhra Pradesh. He said he had collapsed during the launch of TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh’s statewide ‘padayatra’ at Kuppam on January 27.

Sources said that after initial treatment at a nearby hospital, Taraka Ratna was taken to Narayana Hrudayalaya in Bengaluru for further treatment. He told that since the time he was admitted to the hospital, his condition was very serious and he breathed his last on Saturday. Tarak Ratna veteran film actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh late N.T. Grandson of Rama Rao and son of Nandamuri Mohan Krishna.

Family sources said that he is survived by his wife Alekhya and a daughter. Taraka Ratna also acted in a few Telugu films, including his debut film Okato No. Kurradu (in 2002), before venturing into politics. However, he did not get success on screen like his cousin Jr NTR who worked in famous film like ‘RRR’.
