New Delhi. BAMS i.e. Bachelor in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery batch has been started for the first time in the Goa sub-centre of the capital-based All India Institute of Ayurveda. In the induction program of this batch which started with 100 students, Harilal B. Menon, Vice-Chancellor of Goa University drew attention to the special disease spreading in Goa. He said that a mysterious kidney disease is spreading especially in North Goa. In such a situation, students of Ayurveda should do research on the health problems related to Goa.
He said that there is a need for research in India so that people do not have to look towards western countries for evidence in the coming times. At the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Goa, students should focus on the health problems and diseases associated with Goa and do research on those diseases. Citing the example of a mysterious kidney disease prevalent in North Goa, he said that many such diseases are found in North Goa and their treatment would be possible only after thorough research on them.
