Verdict in Kidnapping, Murder Case Against Mukhtar Ansari: Mukhtar Ansari has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Member of Parliament-Legislative Court of Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on Mukhtar Ansari. Mukhtar Ansari’s brother and BSP MP Afzal Ansari is also accused in this case. The verdict on Afzal Ansari is yet to be pronounced.
If Afzal Ansari is sentenced to more than two years, his membership of the parliament may also go. Currently, Mukhtar Ansari is in jail and Afzal Ansari is a BSP MP from Ghazipur. The case against Mukhtar Ansari was registered in connection with the murder of late BJP MLAs Krishnananda Roy and Nandkishore Gupta. A case was registered against Mukhtar and Afzaz Ansari in 2007 at the Mohammadabad Police Station. During the hearing of this case, Mukhtar Ansari was connected to the jail through video conferencing. In 2005, Krishnananda Roy was murdered near Basania Chatti in Mohammadabad.
Mukhtar Ansari is currently lodged in UP’s Banda Jail. However, on April 15, the court reserved its decision in this matter. But on Saturday, the court announced its verdict. Elaborate security arrangements were made outside the Gazipur court before the verdict was pronounced. A large number of security personnel were deployed outside the court. Let it be known that Mukhtar Ansari has been MLA from Mau Vidhan Sabha seat several times.
