Giving information about this, farmer Tarsem Thakur said that he had already warned the canal department officials about this but they did not take any action. The farmer said, the canal department came near my farm and stopped the construction of the canal and released water in the half-complete canal, due to which my four and a half acre crop was completely destroyed.
On the other hand, another farmer Gurdeep Singh says that his three acre crop has also been destroyed, for which the canal department is fully responsible. All the farmers have appealed to the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to compensate for this loss and take strict action against the negligent officials of the canal department.
In this regard, JE Ankit Kumar of the Canal Department says that the work of the canal is still incomplete because the canals leading to the farmers’ fields are still encroached upon by people, who will be vacated soon and the canals will be constructed. . The department had released water in the canal according to the quantity, but due to the heavy rain today, the canal overflowed due to which the water entered the fields of the farmers. Ankit Kumar says that all possible efforts will be made to compensate the farmers for whatever loss they have suffered.
