Ingredients for making Bhakri
Wheat flour – 2 cups
Cumin – 1/2 tsp
Ajwain – 1/4 tsp
Desi ghee – 3 tbsp
salt – as per taste

How to make Bhakri
To make Gujarati style bhakri, first take flour in a big mixing bowl. After this add 3 spoons of desi ghee to the flour and mix it well. If you want, you can also use oil instead of ghee. Adding ghee/oil to the flour enhances the taste of Bhakri. After this add cumin, celery and salt as per taste to the flour and mix everything well.

Now add water little by little to the flour and knead it well. Keep in mind that the dough has to be kept hard. If the dough is soft, then the crunch will not be able to come in the bhakri. After kneading the dough, cover the dough with a wet cloth and keep it aside for 15-20 minutes. After the fixed time, take the dough and knead it once more and then make dough balls in equal proportion.

Now take a ball and roll it round like roti. Keep in mind that Bhakri is thicker than Roti. After rolling the bhakri, press it lightly from all the places only on the back side of the rolling pin. After this, heat the griddle and put Bhakhri roti on it and roast it on medium flame. Roast the bhakri on low flame from both the sides till it becomes crisp. It will take 7-8 minutes for the Bhakri to cook properly. Similarly prepare Bhakri from all the dough. Now put desi ghee on the bhakri and apply it all around and serve hot.
