Sources estimate that Samsung’s share in mobile phone exports was about 40 percent. The company has exported around Rs 36,000 crore in this segment. The contribution of third-party exports was about $1.1 billion (about Rs 9,014 crore). These firms export phones of all brands made in the country.

Apple’s first store in India can be inaugurated by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Tim Cook next week. Cook is scheduled to visit India for this. This is indicative of the company’s plans for the country as a growth market and manufacturing base. Bloomberg News quoted sources with knowledge of this as saying that Cook could be present at the inauguration of the company’s stores in Mumbai and Delhi. Cook last visited India about seven years ago. The company did not respond to emailed questions about Cook’s visit.
