PV Sales: Passenger vehicle sales up 17 percent at 2.98 lakh units in January

Passenger Vehicle Sales: Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles (PV) grew by 17 per cent to 2,98,093 units in January this year. Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has given this information. SIAM said overall passenger vehicle sales grew during the month driven by rising demand for utility vehicles, including sports utility vehicles (SUVs). In January 2022, the vehicle companies had supplied 2,54,287 vehicles to the dealers.

Association of Vehicle Manufacturers SIAM said that the sales of utility vehicles increased to 1,49,328 units during the month. In the same month a year ago, this figure was 1,16,962 units. Similarly, sales of passenger cars increased from 1,16,962 units to 1,36,931 units. Van sales increased from 10,632 units to 11,834 units.

SIAM President Vinod Agarwal said that the demand for passenger vehicles is increasing due to better consumer perception. SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said, the sales of passenger vehicles reached the highest level in January. In the period of 10 months from April to January, the figure of sales of passenger vehicles has crossed 30 lakh units.

In the April-January period of the current financial year, total sales of passenger vehicles increased by 32 percent to reach 31,69,788 units. In the same period of the last financial year, the sale of passenger vehicles stood at 24,03,125 units. (with language input)
