Bureau report : Lovely Professional University in Phagwara is once again under security but for the wrong reason. Youths standing near the law gate of the university were attacked by 30-armed miscreants. The miscreants had sharp weapons and pistols in their hands. They started shooting. A youth identified as Harpreet Singh has died in this attack. While 2 youths have been injured in the attack.
Arjun Singh Rana, injured in the attack, who is admitted to Civil Hospital in Phagwara, has said that his brother Harpreet and friend Saurabh were going to another PG to drop off a friend of theirs, Mani. They were standing near the law gate. Around 25 to 30 youths came riding on bikes. All of them had sharp weapons in their hands, they had attacked.
They were brought to a private hospital
Arjun said that some of the attackers also had pistols. They attacked as soon as they came. Harpreet, who was injured in this attack, was taken to a private hospital in Jalandhar. where he died Arjun said that his brother Harpreet was attacked on the head with a sharp weapon. He used to work in a juice bar here. Arjun Rana said that among the people who attacked him were Manohar, Roshan, Saba, Abhishek and unknown people. Among them, Roshan was walking with the policemen. After the attack that took place at night, he went on board the policeman’s vehicle.
The police registered a case
Phagwara police station in-charge Surjit Singh said that Harpreet Singh, who died, used to sell juice near the law gate. A few days ago he had an argument with some youths. An agreement was reached between the two groups at night. Harpreet is his brother. 15 to 20 youths came there, but the second group of youths did not come there. When they started going here, they reached there on bikes. The quarrel started again between the two.
Arjun Rana and Harpreet got injured in the fight. Harpreet was referred to a private hospital in Jalandhar from Civil Hospital Phagwara. In the morning it was found that he died during the treatment. The police have registered a case under Section 307, 160, 147 and 149 of Intent-A- Murder.
