Illegally Encroached on Punchayati Land: Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Tuesday freed 100 acres of land worth Rs 40 crore in village Isru under Khanna subdivision of the district from illegal encroachment. After taking back the possession of the occupied land, while talking to the journalists, Laljit Singh Bhullar said that the market value of this land is around 40 crore rupees.

He said that 54 people of seven families have illegally encroached on this land. He said that the village panchayat had filed a case against these persons in the DDPO court on 30 May 2022 and on 21 June 2022 the DDPO court had passed an order in favor of the village panchayat.

On June 27, 2022, the DDPO court issued warrants to free the land from encroachment. Later the squatters also approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court and directed the JDC (Rural Development) to decide the case within four weeks. He said that on April 11, 2023, the JDC finally ordered the village panchayat as the owner of the land.

The Panchayat Minister said that around 12500 acres of land has already been taken possession of across Punjab since last year. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has already announced that the state government is committed to making every land free from illegal occupation. He also appealed to the people of the state to come forward and voluntarily vacate the encroached government land so that the revenue collected from this land can be used for the development of the state.

Panchayat Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that the Chief Minister has already warned people who have illegally occupied government or panchayat lands to take action if they do not return the land. He said that no one who encroached on government land despite his influence would be spared. At this time, the Cabinet Minister said that the strike which has been done by the contract employees of the bus company is wrong and the strike has been done with other illegitimate demands. Along with this, a guard of honor was also given to Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar at Khanna Rest House.

Deputy Commissioner Surbhi Malik, SSP Amanit Kondal, ADCs Sandeep Kumar, Paramveer Singh, Joint Director (Rural Development and Panchayat Department) Jagwinderjit Singh, SDM Khanna Aparna MB and others were also present on this occasion.
