Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann while tightening the grip on the Akali Dal said that he has also seen the time when during the Kabaddi Cup Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra were invited for a performance of 10 minutes each for 5 crore rupees each. He said that the youth who show the essence of our Gatke are less than anyone. The Chief Minister said that this year 35 competitions will be held in eight age groups and for the first time rugby, cycling, horse riding, wushu and shooting volleyball have been included in the sports. He said that these competitions will be conducted in 14 years age group, 17 years age group, 21 years age group, 21-30 years, 31-40 years, 41-55 years, 56-65 years and above 65 years age group. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that cash prizes of Rs 7 crore will be given to the players, of which Rs 10,000 will be given to the gold medal winners, Rs 7,000 to the silver medal winners and Rs 5,000 to the bronze medal winners.

The Chief Minister said that the Indian hockey team that brought medals for the country will be given jobs soon. He said that all the hurdles have already been removed and now these nine players will be given jobs according to their merit. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these players are the capital of the country and they will be well looked after for the country and expressed hope that they will win gold medals in the Asian Games.

The Chief Minister further said that the Balbir Singh Senior Scholarship Scheme has been launched to encourage budding sportspersons. He said that as part of this sports policy, the state government is giving 8 lakh rupees per player for the first time to around 50 players who are preparing to participate in the Asian Games to be held in China. Bhagwant Singh Mann announced to give all possible support to sportsmen to promote sports activities in the state.
