New Delhi/Bangalore.Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, while presenting the state budget on Friday, made several announcements to woo farmers in the election year. Along with this, he made a big announcement that Ram temple will be constructed in Ramnagar, Karnataka. Along with this, he said that, in the next 2 years, our government will do extensive development and renovation of many temples and maths at a cost of Rs 1000 crore.

Along with this, he announced to increase the limit of interest-free short-term loan given to farmers from Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh. This increase will be applicable from the next financial year. Be aware that Bommai also holds the finance portfolio.
Presenting the budget for 2023-24 in the state assembly, he said that provision has been made for hassle-free and need-based credit facility for agriculture-related activities. The Chief Minister said, “This year, loans worth Rs 25,000 crore will be distributed to more than 30 lakh farmers.” Bommai said that the government has decided to give an additional subsidy of Rs 10,000 in the year 2023-24 to the ‘Kisan Credit Card’ holders under a new scheme ‘Bhu Shree’.
He said that this would facilitate the farmers to buy seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and other agricultural inputs at the time of need. Bommai said that for this the state government will contribute Rs 2,500 and NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) will give Rs 7,500.
He said, “This will benefit about 50 lakh farmers of the state.” Assembly elections in Karnataka are expected to be held in April-May this year. The Chief Minister has also announced the ‘Shram Shakti’ scheme in the budget, under which landless women agricultural laborers will be given financial assistance of Rs 500 per person per month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Bommai said that for the first time after the Kovid epidemic in the state, the estimated revenue receipts are expected to exceed the revenue expenditure by Rs 402 crore. He said it is a “revenue-surplus” budget.
