Punjab Police and National Investigation Agency (NIA) have detained a lawyer practicing in the District Court Kapurthala in a joint operation. According to a media report, advocate Rajdeep Singh had shared some material on his Facebook page about the absconding ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal. After this, Punjab Police and NIA swung into action and detained the lawyer.
According to sources, after detaining advocate Rajdeep Singh, he is being questioned about his relationship with Amritpal and about Amritpal’s whereabouts. On the other hand, the District Kapurthala Bar Association has taken strict notice of the detention of the lawyer without any notice.
It has been declared illegal. The Kapurthala Bar Association has staged a strike calling the arrest of Kapurthala court practitioner Rajdeep Singh, a resident of village Babak (Godewala) of Dasuha sub-division of Hoshiarpur district illegal. The Bar Association has said that no lawyer is going to court today. Today is being observed as ‘No Work Day’.
The Bar Association has written in its letter declaring No Work Day that Rajdeep Singh was returning from Ponta Sahib when he was attacked by the Punjab Police and N. I. A. The team arrested on the way without any prior information. He has been arrested only because he posted some material about Amritpal on his Facebook wall.
