Inflation is increasing in Pakistan. Pakistan wants to finalize a loan deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to deal with the economic crisis. Before the deal is finalised, Pakistani consumers are facing higher prices of daily necessities including milk and chicken. Inflation has increased so much that it has become difficult for the common man to make ends meet.

According to Pakistan, the rate of open milk has been increased from Rs 190 per liter to Rs 210 per liter and the price of broiler chicken has increased by Rs 30-40 per kg in the last two days, due to which it is now priced at Rs 480 per kg. -500 rupees per kg.

Similarly, there has been a big jump in milk prices, said Waheed Gaddi, spokesperson of Karachi Milk Retailers Association, saying that more than 1,000 shopkeepers are selling milk at exorbitant prices. He said that these are actually shops of wholesalers or dairy farmers and not of our members. He further said that if the price increase announced by dairy farmers and wholesalers is not withdrawn, the price of milk will be Rs 220 per liter instead of Rs 210.

On rising poultry rates, Sindh Poultry Wholesalers Association General Secretary Kamal Akhtar Siddiqui said that the wholesale rate of live chickens is Rs 600 per kg, while the price of their meat is kept between Rs 650 and 700. The rise in inflation comes amid stalled talks between the IMF and Pakistan, a major setback for Shahbaz Sharif’s government.

Pakistan is struggling to recover from record-breaking inflation. Along with this, the country’s economy was badly damaged by floods last year, in which 1,739 people were killed and nearly 20 lakh houses were destroyed.
