INDvAFG: India beat Afghanistan by 66 runs to advance to semifinals

After losing two matches in a row, Team India has finally opened the account of winning the Twenty20 World Cup. In the 33rd match of the tournament, India defeated Afghanistan by 66 runs. Batting first after losing the toss, the North Indian team played a brilliant game and scored 210/2 in 20 overs. Rohit Sharma (74) and KL Rahul (69) played brilliant innings.

Afghanistan could score only 144 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by a big margin. Along with this match, India will now have to win their remaining two matches. To reach the semi-finals, India will have to watch the results of other teams, especially New Zealand and Afghanistan.

Afghanistan got off to a bad start and in the last ball of the third over, Mohammad Shami dismissed Mohammad Shahzad for zero to give India their first victory and Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Hazratullah Jazai (13) on the very next ball. Ashwin then dismissed Gulbadin for 18 runs. Ashwin took the wicket of Najibullah Zadran in the next over.

For the 6th wicket, Mohammad Nabi and Karim Janat scored 57 off 38 balls. Shami broke this partnership by dismissing Nabi (35). Shortly afterwards, Shami also showed Rashid Khan the way to the pavilion at zero. India soon won the match by 66 runs
