Corona’s shadow on India-West Indies series, BCCI can take a big decision

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may change the venue of the upcoming limited overs series against the West Indies in view of the rapidly increasing cowardice cases across the country. The board, however, has not taken a formal decision in the matter.

India are set to host the West Indies’ three-match Twenty20 International and one-day ODI series in February. It will start with a 50-over match in Ahmedabad on February 6.

A BCCI official said nothing has been decided yet. This is a constantly changing situation and we are monitoring the situation. We will decide at the right time.

Apart from Ahmedabad, other venues are Jaipur (February 9), Kolkata (February 12), Cuttack (February 15), Visakhapatnam (February 18) and Thiruvananthapuram (February 20). Given the current Corona situation in the country, the board could host six matches at three venues. According to the current schedule, the West Indies team has to stay in seclusion for three days after arriving in Ahmedabad on February 1. The BCCI has so far postponed all domestic tournaments.
