The Indian Navy is preparing to buy three diesel powered attack submarines being built in collaboration with France. For this, the Navy can soon contact the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC). Air Independent Operated (AIP) these submarines are to be built at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited. According to the information, based on the specific requirements of the Indian Navy, the contract for the construction of three AIP submarines will be given to MDL. MDL has already built six French Scorpene-based Kalvari class submarines for the Indian Navy. At the same time, INS Vagshir is expected to be inducted into the Navy before March 2024.
