India created history by winning the Women’s Junior Asia Cup

The Indian hockey team has created history by defeating four-time champions South Korea in the final of the Junior Women’s Asia Cup. In the final match played on Sunday, the Indian team became the champion of the Asia Cup for the first time after defeating South Korea 2-1.

Earlier, with the victory in the semi-final, the Indian team had also qualified for the Junior World Cup. The Junior World Cup will be held in Chile from November 29 to December 10 this year.

India and South Korea were tied in the first half in the final match of this tournament held in the city of Kakamigahara, Japan. Both teams scored one goal each in the first half. Annu (22) and Neelam (41) scored the first goal for India. Park Seyeon scored the lone goal for Korea.

Earlier, the Indian team had topped the points table in the competition in the league. Out of the 4 matches played in the league, India won 3 while one match was a draw. The Indian team defeated Uzbekistan 22-0 in their first match in the league.

 

In the second match, they beat Malaysia 2-1 while in the third match, they drew with Korea. Defeated Chinese Taipei 11-0 in the last league match. 10 teams participated in this tournament. Along with the Indian team, four other teams got direct entry into the U-21 hockey tournament based on their world rankings, including teams from China, Korea, Japan and Malaysia.
