He informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on April 14 and in his presence the Assam government will try to get the state’s festival ‘Bihu’ registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. The state is over-utilised, with average daily usage ranging from 1,900 MW to 2,200 MW per day and expected to increase to 3,200 MW soon. To tide over the crisis, we are currently procuring power from the national grid at the rate of Rs 12 per unit.

The coal-based power plant is planned to be developed over an area of ​​1,886 acres in three phases of 660MW each. The estimated investment in the project is Rs 17,237 crore ($2.52 billion). Each unit will be equipped with a super-critical, forced-circulation, and pulverized-firing boiler, a 3,000rpm multi-cylinder reheat condensing turbine generator, and a natural draft cooling tower.
