The Indian cricket team faced Australia in the third T20 match at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday. Team India’s eyes were fixed on winning this match. The eyes of Team India were also on winning the series. A win in this match would have given India an unbeaten 3-0 lead in the series. India won the first two matches to take a 2-0 lead in the series. India had to win this match to win the series and it seemed that the Indian team would hoist the victory flag in this match but they lost this match. In the last three overs, Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Wade took away the victory from Team India and kept Australia in this series.

Wade won the toss and decided to bowl first in this match. Batting first, Team India scored 222 runs after losing three wickets in 20 overs. Rituraj Gaikwad, the opener for India, played a brilliant century and scored 123 not out. But Gaikwad’s century collapsed with Glenn Maxwell’s century. Maxwell scored an unbeaten 104 and led his team to victory.

The story of the last 3 overs

Team India was looking to win the match. Australia needed 49 runs from the last 18 balls i.e. three overs to win. These runs are enough but Indian bowlers could not save these runs and team India had to lose the match. Prasidh Krishna bowled in the 18th over. Six runs came in this over. But Suryakumar Wade’s important catch was missed in this over. Although this catch was very difficult, but if it had been caught, the match could have come into India’s possession. Suryakumar Yadav gives the 19th over to Akshar Patel. Wade hits a boundary on the first ball of this over. Two runs came off the second ball. There was a boundary on the third ball as well. The fourth ball was a no ball as Ishan Kishan caught the ball in front of the wicket. Due to which the next ball was a free hit. Wade hits a six on this ball. A run came off the fifth ball.

Australia needed 21 runs from the last over to win. Suryakumar hands over the bowling to Prasidh Krishna. Wade hits a boundary on the very first ball. A run came off the next ball. Maxwell hits a six off the third ball. Maxwell hits a boundary on the fourth ball. Maxwell hit another four off the fifth ball and with that he completed his century. Two runs were needed off the last ball and Maxwell hit a four on this ball to give Australia the win. Maxwell hit eight fours and as many sixes in his innings. Captain Wade scored an unbeaten 28 off 16 balls with the help of three fours and a six.

The wait grew

This victory of Australia has increased the wait of Team India and its fans. A win in this match could have won the series for India but Australia did not allow it to happen. Now India will have to wait for the fourth T20 match to win the series which will be played in Raipur on December 1. This match will be played at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. Australia will try to level the series here.
